The kids are back in school, the leaves are falling and its getting dark earlier. The signs summer is ending are all around us. Despite that, there are still a few major rallies and rides on the horizon.
The next, and possibly largest, is Street Vibrations®. Running from September 21-25, the event takes place across Northern Nevada with festivities in Reno, Tahoe, Carson City, and Virginia City. Roadshows, the production company that organizes the event, has billed it as a week of “Music, Metal, and Motorcycles”. More then 50,000 motorcyclists come to the area to enjoy rides, tours, stunt shows, live music, and of course bike shows, races and events. The festivities include 250 vendors including 15 manufacturer semis, Monte Perlin’s Glob-O-Death, an International Bikini Team, and even CHIPS star Erik Estrada on site throughout the event!
Despite all of that, for me the highlight is the “Real Deal Old School Chopper Show” put on by Mondo Porras and Les Covington of Denver’s Choppers. The shop and these guys are legends in the custom motorcycle world and I expect to see some top notch builds at their show that takes places Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the Reno Ballroom. Prizes will awarded Saturday at 5pm.
For those looking to ride and see the “sights” as you only can in Nevada, there is the 20th Annual Cathouse Poker Run™ on Saturday, Sept. 24th. The run starts at Reno Harley-Davidson and 9am and costs $25 per participant.
The bulk of the action in Reno will take place on Virginia Street, which be closed off to accommodate stages and vendors. The event will be open from 9am to 10 pm daily. Battle Born Harley-Davidson will host the festivities in Carson City, while C Street will be the hub of entertainment in Virginia City.
As you can see there is no shortage of things to and places to be during Street Vibrations®. Make the trip if you can because the event is always going! Reno is a lively town in a wild state, and this event fits right in!
