One of the great things about this industry is how united we can be for a good cause. Every year I’m honored to be part of a ride put on by a group called Tribute to The Troops. They work to raise to money to provide scholarships to children of Fallen Soldiers. They are a 501(c)(3) organization, which means no one involved with the group puts anything in their pocket. Everything they accomplish is because of dedicated volunteers.
Around 100 bikes of all makes and models participate in the annual two day ride. It is a very moving experience. Participants fall in line behind Gold Star families who lead the ride. A Gold Star Family is a family that has lost a member Serving in the Military. The group visits people who have also lost someone serving our Country and presents them with a custom plaque memorializing who they have lost and what it means to our country.
The ride is followed by a dinner, silent auction and concert by Veteran and country music singer Rockie Lynne to raise more funds for the organization. Everyone I’ve met through Tribute to the Troops has been genuine and selfless in what they do. They are great people and an organization I would recommend anyone get involved with.
